Making (artists) Visible

About the foundation

Foundation MV was founded in 2025 by Megain Widjaja to fill the gap between Indonesia’s art scene and the global art world. As the government focuses on other sectors, the arts in Indonesia often lack sufficient support. The foundation steps in as a private initiative to provide that missing link.

Foundation MV runs three programs: Institutions Grant, supporting biennales and museums that show Indonesian artists; Travel Grant, helping international curators and artistic directors visit Indonesia to research artists; and Residency Grant, enabling Indonesian artists to join international residency programs. Together, these programs aim to strengthen Indonesia’s presence in the global art ecosystem.

Our Vision

Foundation MV envisions a vibrant global art ecosystem where Indonesian artists and voices are recognized, celebrated, and connected across borders. Through support for institutions, curators, and residencies, the foundation seeks to expand opportunities, foster meaningful exchange, and ensure Indonesia’s cultural presence thrives on the international stage.

The Founder

Foundation MV is driven by the vision and dedication of its founders, husband and wife Megain Widjaja and Venny Isabela. Devoted philanthropists with a passion for education, culture, and the arts, they believe in art’s power to inspire both progress and empathy. Their mission is to create pathways that enable artists and institutions to reach and engage wider audiences.
